Did you know that about 80% of your fat loss results are based on your diet?
Or as I like to say, "You can't outrun your fork!"
You can exercise hard every single day, but if you aren't on track with your nutrition, it will be tough to lose significant body fat.
If you’re looking to lose weight then these 3 habits are a must…follow these three simple but powerful tips for faster and lasting fat loss:
✅ Healthy Eating Habit #1: Eat Enough Wholesome Calories
Starvation diets work great! Until they don't. Restricting too many calories over a period of time will result in you being tired and weak and hungry (probably HANGRY) and when you're finally off that crazy diet... 😱 Boomerang!
Starvation diets inevitably lead to rebounding and overeating that causes you to gain even more weight. There is a huge benefit to eating the right amount of wholesome calories, spread out throughout the day.
Your metabolism is revved up and fat loss becomes steady and sustainable. Eat real food and at a caloric level that is appropriate for safe and steady weight loss. (Need help determining this? Reach out to me for my favorite handy online calorie calculator.)
✅ Healthy Eating Habit #2: Eat More Protein
Protein is important for a variety of reasons, and many people do not get enough protein in their daily diets. When it comes to losing fat, getting adequate protein is a must.
It takes more calories to digest protein versus fats or carbs, giving your metabolic rate a boost. It’s also essential to supply your body with the dietary protein needed to build and maintain your muscle mass (you're working out, right?) - as muscles increase our resting metabolic rate.
Many people report that they crave sweets and starches a lot less when they're eating more protein, especially eating protein early in the day.
Protein helps keep you feeling full, boosts your metabolism and decreases the cravings for snacks that are full of fat, carbs and sugars.
✅ Healthy Eating Habit #3: Avoid Drinking Sugar
One of the BIGGEST diet pitfalls today is drinking sugary beverages. Liquid calories add up big time and they seem to stubbornly stick to our waistlines.
Whether you’re drinking soda-pop, sweet coffee drinks, fruit juice, or alcoholic beverages, liquid calories are detrimental to fat loss as well as health.
A great way to avoid liquid sugary calories is to cultivate the preference for water (you'll save a ton of money, too!) and try some of the great flavored sparkling waters (without sweeteners) that are available. Enjoying a sweet beverage should be a special treat, not a daily habit.
Of course a consistent and progressive exercise program is part of the equation when it comes to losing weight, getting fit and feeling great!
